Calling all Altruvistas friends and alums! You’re cordially invited to join us in celebrating the music of Pablo Menéndez & Mezcla and the indestructible musical bridge of friendship between the San Francisco Bay Area and Cuba! Menéndez is an Oakland born musician who has resided in Cuba for the past 50 years. His Havana based band, Mezcla, mixes Afro-Cuban/Yoruba roots music, rumba, Cuban rock, Cuban Jazz and world fusion styles and sounds.
Our founder, Malia Everette, has been introducing North Americans to Menéndez and his music via trips to Cuba for over two decades. Menéndez has also regularly hosted Altruvistas groups in Cuba since our founding 5 years ago.
We hope to celebrate this special evening with you!
