Puerto Rico | Puerto Rico: The Hidden Colony
Tour Sponsor: Witness for Peace Southwest
Travel on a delegation to Puerto Rico with Witness for Peace!
Puerto Rico’s status as a US commonwealth leaves the island without a vote and voice in their nation’s political future. Stand in solidarity with the people of Puerto Rico as they continue their fight for their independence against US occupation and militarization. We will learn about the history of Borinquen and its people’s history of resistance. We will explore the movement for independence and also statehood, while enjoying vibrant culture, some bomba y plena, and extraordinary cuisine, of course.
This delegation to Puerto Rico will be organized by AltruVistas in support of Witness for Peace Southwest. Witness for Peace is a national grassroots human rights organization that works in solidarity with peoples of Latin America to build a more just and humane US foreign policy towards the Americas. Witness for Peace maintains international teams and offices in Colombia, Mexico, Nicaragua and Cuba. WfP was founded in 1983 in Nicaragua and currently has over 25,000 members in the U.S nationwide.
