Booking Your Flights
Most Altruvistas Journeys do not include International or domestic airfare, and costs are for “in-country,” or land-only. We can and do work with our travel agent partners and the airlines to negotiate group rates. Please know we can build in airfare to the total package price. However for most of our partners whose members are all over the US or world they will need to secure flights from the U.S. (or home town) to a specific arrival site. When purchasing your own domestic or international tickets, check the status of your ticket. Be informed, ask if it is refundable or transferable. We recommend this, as it can protect you from losing hundreds of dollars in the case of a family emergency or tour cancellation. To purchase your tickets you can call domestic airlines directly, check travel web sites for specials or contact one of the recommended travel agents we recommend in your orientation letter.
To assist our groups with flights and have excellent customer service, Altruvistas does regularly work with Exito Traveler. Remember when booking that the first day of the program you should make sure you are arriving in the morning or by 3 pm at the latest. Please know that we take our partner and travelers privacy seriously. For our partners and travelers we will not share any personal information you provide to us including and similar to your name, address, telephone number and e-mail address will not be released, sold, or rented to any entities or individuals outside Altruvistas. We will use your information only where required by us to process your booking and to ensure that your travel arrangements run smoothly and meet your requirements we need to use the information you provide such as name, address, any special needs/dietary requirements etc.
Altruvistas assumes full responsibility for ensuring that proper security measures are in place to protect your information. We must pass the information on to the relevant suppliers of your travel arrangements such as your tour operator, airlines, hotels, transport companies etc. The information may also be provided to security or credit checking companies, public authorities such as customs/immigration if required by them, or as required by laws in the US or in the host nations we are visiting. We will not however, pass any information onto any person not responsible for part of your travel arrangements. This applies to any sensitive information that you give to us such as details of any disabilities, or dietary/religious requirements.
Usually our tour operators or other principals in country will pass this information onto their suppliers once we have provided it to them. The tour operator or other principal’s use of your information is subject to their policy, both in respect of your booking and any future marketing, and is their responsibility. Please ask either us or them for a copy of this if you would like to see it.
