Hawai'i | Baddies: Big Island Cultural Immersion

Journey Dates: April 26-May 5, 2025 Trip Availability: OPEN

Tour Sponsor: Dr. Pavlina Latkova

Join Dr. Pavlina Latkova for this eco-cultural immersion tour of Hawai’i’s beautiful Big Island! Dr. Latkova is a San Francisco State Recreation, Parks, and Tourism professor with decades of experience leading educational journeys. You don’t need to be affiliated with SFSU to join this trip! We’ll meet with activists, farmers, aunties, and members of the Hawai’ian sovereignty movement, and learn about cacao and coffee. We’ll also plant trees, volunteer, visit a green sand beach, go snorkeling, hike Polulu Valley, and visit the volcano! For the first four nights of this incredible journey we will be staying on AltruVistas founder Malia Everette’s aina; the second half of the journey we will be guests at the Royal Kona Resort.

Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover. -Mark Twain
