Cuba | Jazz and Culture in Havana: A People-to-People Journey with Dr. Segun Shabaka
Join Dr. Segun Shabaka in Havana for the 41st Annual Havana Jazz Festival! In addition to jazz-filled evenings, our journey will also have us exchanging with Cuban poets, filmmakers, dancers, artists, and experiencing an architect-led walking tour of Old Havana. We’ll learn about AfroCuban music via a drum workshop; then journey to Matanzas to visit UNESCO World Heritage sites and learn the history of region and the legacy of slavery in Cuba.
An entire day is devoted to AfroCuban Sacred Expressions, where we’ll exchange with Santeras and visit the Black Madonna/Orisha of the Seas. Back in Havana, we will meet with representatives from contemporary community and educational initiatives.
There’s time for beach, leisure, and a classic car cruise too. Join us for unforgettable jazz, and to deepen your connection with the island of Cuba!
