Havana is one of the most dynamic and colorful capitals in the Americas. Famed for its music, rum, distinctive architecture, and dynamic culture of visual and performing arts, Cuba’s liveliest city is both welcoming and mysterious, with hidden treasures around every corner. I hope you can join us for an unforgettable journey to Havana during this once-in-a-lifetime, yet annual event of the Havana Jazz Festival. Our small group will focus on Cuba’s artistic traditions; the AfroCuban diaspora; and exploring the relationship between personal expression, community development, and collaboration. We’ll visit studios, galleries, World Heritage Sites of extraordinary beauty, and neighborhoods that have been revitalized through imaginative art projects. Meetings with local artists and guided visits to museums and galleries will also be featured. It’s wonderful opportunity to experience an extraordinary place at a historic moment—and feel the heartbeat of Cuba’s creative spirit especially through its vibrant music and jazz scene!
This journey is being facilitated by our friend & founder of Soul de Cuba and Cubanakoa, Jesus Puerto! This tour offers you a unique opportunity to gain a first hand experience of Cuban culture, music, dance, and life. You will come away with a deep understanding of the complexities and wonders within Cuba, its world recognized education and health systems, and current trends in Cuba’s tourism industry as we experience together the beauty of the island’s cultural heritage sites. Altruvistas founder Malia Everette will personally be in and out of the group to support Jesus, along with our full-time Cuban Guide and translator Sara Deisy.
