Ecuador | Baddies Ecoexploration of the Galapagos
Join Dr. Pavlina Latkova for this eco-immersion in the Galapagos Islands! Dr. Latkova is a San Francisco State Recreation, Parks, and Tourism professor with decades of experience leading educational journeys.
We begin in Quito touring the Old City before heading to San Cristóbal Island, where we’ll visit the Kicker Rock (León Dormido) and the beach. From there, our yachting and snorkeling eco-expedition truly picks up steam! We’ll yacht to Baltra and snorkel at Playa Las Bachas on Santa Cruz, and also walk on the gorgeous white coral sands to explore land wildlife. We’ll continue to yacht, snorkel, and hike, exloring Genovesa Island, Darwin Bay, El Barranco and Prince Philip’s Steps; Bartolome Island, Santiago Island, Sullivan Bay, Black Turtle Cove, and beyond.
Expect to see many the following: reef fish, sea turtles, rays, and baby blacktip reef sharks, sally lightfoot crabs, marine iguanas, finches, yellow warblers, frigatebirds, pelicans, fur seals, the short-eared owl and more … and with a bit of luck, blue-footed boobies and flamingos! Bring your binoculars!
This journey is open by invitation. You don’t need to be affiliated with SFSU. Contact Dr. Latkova with any availability-related questions. Confirmed invitees may use the registration link below.
Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover. -Mark Twain
