Thailand— the Land of Smiles— is beckoning us to come connect with each other while we meet the women, enjoy the food, gasp over the beauty, and enjoy the wildlife in a far-away and beautiful land.
This 11-day trip starts with 4 days in Phuket, the land of beautiful postcard-featured beaches; then jumps into the capital city of Bangkok for a couple of days where we’ll see renowned temples, bustling markets, and inspiring culture; and then ends with a short flight to mountainous region of Chiang Mai where we’ll spend a long weekend celebrating the famous annual “Festival of Lights” up in hill country!
TRIP HIGHLIGHTS:
-Tours in 3 cities: Phuket, Bangkok, and Chiang Mai (plus all airfare between them)
-Ample time in Phuket for beaches, massages, and yoga
-An elephant sanctuary
-Explore the famed and gorgeous Phang Nga Bay by boat
-Some of the most beautiful and famous temples and palaces in the country, including the Royal Palace
-Lots of shopping from local markets to fair-trade co-op’s
-Wat Muang— the tallest Buddha statue in Thailand
-Ayutthaya Historical Park, which is an UNESCO World Heritage Site because of the impressive ruins of the former kingdom
-A day trip to meet some of the mountain tribes outside of Chiang Mai
-Amazing variety of yummy food— including a cooking class where we’ll learn to cook some local dishes!
-Meet and connect with lots of local people through visits to inspiring programs, dinners with invited guests, and lots of local guides!
-Light lanterns and participate in the Festival of Lights, the Yi Peng Festival!
All trips are so much more than just famous sites and cities though! We will peppering every trip to include as many of the following components as possible in our desire to learn about the woman’s life in our destination:
-A cooking class from that country
-Several learning experiences that highlights the women’s movement in that country and/or issues that women are currently facing.
-Other women-focused experiences will be planned to fit the theme of each particular trip.
Plus, we always have our eye on adding the “little things” that really make a trip feel special so there’s bound to be a fun surprise or two!
