Havana is one of the most dynamic and colorful capitals in the Americas. Built along a sheltered bay, Havana (originally “La villa de San Cristóbal de La Habana”) was founded by the Spanish on November 16, 1519 and will mark its 500th birthday in the Fall of 2019. The anniversary will ignite a flare of celebrations, including an arts Biennial along the Malecon (Havana’s seafront promenade) and ongoing festivities in the buildings and plazas of the city’s Historic Center.
Join us for an unforgettable journey to Havana during this once-in-a-lifetime event! Our small group will focus on Cuba’s artistic traditions, exploring the relationship between personal expression, community development, and collaboration. We’ll visit studios, galleries, World Heritage Sites of extraordinary beauty, and neighborhoods that have been revitalized through imaginative art projects. Meetings with local artists and guided visits to museums and galleries will also be featured. Every day will include time for journaling, painting, and photography.
