With World Tourism Day (Sept. 27th) around the corner, below are a couple of events happening in the Bay Area for those interested in responsible tourism, summed up nicely by our friends at ECPAT-USA, plus a bit about an upcoming advocacy journey to Thailand.
September 25 — The Bay Area Industry Celebrates World Tourism Day
Altruvistas and Triple Pundit have combined forces to organize a special evening to benefit ECPAT-USA. World Tourism Day was created to raise awareness on the role of tourism within the international community and to demonstrate how it affects social, cultural, political and economic values worldwide.

September 28 — Ending Child Slavery At The Source: A Benefit Salon for ECPAT USA
Altruvistas and the International Tour Management Institute are sponsoring this event with ECPAT-USA’s Executive Director Carol Smolenski who will share current advocacy efforts in the movement to end child exploitation.

November 7-17 — Travel to End Trafficking, an ECPAT Advocacy Journey to Thailand
You don’t have to be in the Bay Area to join this upcoming journey to Thailand. This November ECPAT-USA will be leading a groundbreaking journey to Thailand for a group of travelers to learn firsthand about the issue of trafficking and sexual exploitation and how the travel industry is combating it.
