Good day/Buenos Dias!

In light of recent international media coverage regarding developments in Venezuela, we would like to share a brief and factual update on the current situation in Cuba as it relates to travel.

At this time, the situation in Cuba remains stable, and there is no impact on tourism operations or reason for cancellations related to recent regional events. Within Cuba, there is a general atmosphere of caution, of course. This is mostly because of the Trump regime’s discourse and rhetoric against Cuba. There have been serious shortages in the country of petroleum and foodstuffs; this has been the reality since the pandemic. We have continued to run immersions and group tours over the past few years and have managed the logistics effectively and safely. We do not foresee any operational risks affecting our trips in the near- or- medium- term. In fact, we just finished a group over New Year’s, and currently have a university group, which is going fantastically.

Daily life in Cuba’s main tourism destinations continues as normal. Airports, hotels, transportation, and tourism services are operating without disruption, and all scheduled itineraries, transfers, and experiences are running as planned. Travelers are not directly affected during their journeys. There are many, many stores with foodstuffs, some in dollars only some in pesos, and for Cubans that have access to hard currency through work or because of remittances they can purchase all their needs easily. Of course there are vulnerable populations, like pensioners, that really struggle for food security. And there are also organized, rolling blackouts through the country, and these are frustrating for the Cuban people. We know first-hand and concretely that tourism receipts help benefit the local economy, and we passionately believe in continuing to be part of that solution.

Cuba remains a safe and welcoming destination. We continue to closely monitor local and regional developments, and should conditions change or any potential risk arise, we will be the first to inform you promptly and transparently.

Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or if your travelers require additional reassurance.
