Cuba | Sustainable Development and Ecotourism in Cuba: A People-to-People Adventure with Dr. Pavlina Latkova

Journey Dates: November 13-22, 2023 Trip Availability: CLOSED
Tour Sponsor: Dr. Pavlina Latkova

San Francisco State’s Recreation, Parks & Tourism (RPT) alumni reunite on a joint adventure to experience Cuba’s diverse culture and people, learn about Cuba’s environmental stewardship and community resilience, and immerse in local culture by participating in community-based service projects. We will learn about “Tarea Vida”–the state plan to confront climate change on the island; and why Cuba is consistently ranked the world’s most sustainable country (recently published Sustainable Development Index, 2020). Outside of the historic and bustling capitol of Havana, we’ll explore rural areas, visit local farms, hike protected forests to beautiful waterfalls, enjoy the beauty of Cuba’s coastal geography, and experience its unique endemic flora and fauna!
